The Irish Mussels in the Shell that we bring to you are known as Blue Mussels (Mytulis Edulis). Native to Irish waters, they are renowned for their natural flavour of the sea and firm texture. When cooked well, our Irish Mussels in the shell have a tender, slightly delightfully chewy texture. They are a real treat simply steamed with butter, white wine and garlic - delicious!

Your Irish Mussels will arrive to you alive (alive-oh!) specially packed to keep them alive, fresh and ready for cooking.
Mussels are best eaten on the day of delivery and should definitely be eaten within 3 days. Store in the fridge in a shallow dish covered with a clean damp towel or papertowels. Do not store live mussels in water or in an airtight container. Scrub shells just before cooking. If you see that a shell has opened, give it a tap. It will close again if the mussel is still alive. If it stays open, make sure to discard it.

Provenance

We source our mussels from Kelly Oysters off Galway Bay - this is the area where the blue mussel thrives best, in the colder waters of the Atlantic. All of our seafood is selected for its exceptional quality and meets the highest standards of sustainability.
