Meet the Supplier - Saltees Fish
Here at Atlantis of Kilmore Quay we have worked hard to build our reputation for delivering quality fresh fish and seafood to our customers and our focus continues to be on bringing you the best products. We have spent a lot of time forging partnerships with skippers and producers to ensure a constant supply of the freshest Irish products for our customers. This week we are focusing on our supplier Saltees Fish, based in Kilmore Quay Co Wexford, who we have been working with for over 20 years.
Saltees Fish is a family run business owned by the O’Flaherty brothers founded in 1996. When they started, their principal role was the sale and distribution of white fish caught on their own beam trawlers. Today they operate one of the country’s largest fleets with over 20 vessels and sell fish direct all over Ireland & Europe.
From their base in Kilmore Quay, they fish the south coast of Ireland as far as Kinsale with boats at sea for up to 5 days and landing a bounty of top-quality seafood. They have dedicated types of trawlers to catch specific species.
Beam Trawlers – These vessels catch species such as, Black Sole, Lemon Sole, Plaice Ray & Monk Fish.
Twin Rig Trawlers - These vessels catch species such as, Cod, Haddock, Hake & Pollock.
Dredge Trawl – These vessels are used specifically to catch scallops, there are usually caught off Cardigan Bay or the Isle of Man.
Saltees Fish owns its own fleet of road vehicles which ensures distribution and collection from the trawlers is efficient and helps to guarantee that all the product arrives on time and in the best possible condition.
With a partnership that goes back over 20 years, Atlantis of Kilmore Quay are proud to work with Saltees Fish and find they always go above and beyond to source only the freshest wild Irish seafood. Saltees Fish trade from a modern building, meeting EU Regulations, featuring up to date loading bays, an ice plant and storage areas.
